Weight Loss Programs to get your started on New Year’s Resolutions

Weight Loss Programs to get your started on New Year’s Resolutions

2015 is almost here and that means it’s time to make New Year’s resolutions. A common resolution is weight loss. Many people, especially after stuffing themselves through the holiday season, seek to lose weight starting in January. Weight loss programs can certainly be effective and keeping a healthy body weight is definitely important.

Here are a few tips for New Year’s weight loss programs that will allow you to keep your resolution.

Set Goals and Make a Plan

Deciding that you “want to lose weight in 2015” probably won’t be very successful. Why not? Because it’s not specific so it’s a hard goal to motivate yourself to reach. Instead, set a realistic goal for how much weight you’d like to lose and in what period of time you’d like to lose it in. This will give you a specific goal to strive for.

The next step is to make a detailed plan for how you will reach that goal. List what steps you’re going to take (diet, exercise, etc.) to reach your goal. A personal trainer can help you come up with this plan.

Keep a Diary

Write down all of the foods that you eat and all of the exercise that you do. Do this every day. Keeping a detailed diary will allow you to look back and see what you’ve done in order to reach your weight loss goals. Plus, writing down your food intake and your exercise routines each day will keep you motivated to keep going. There are a number of smartphone apps and websites that can help you out with keeping a diary.

Consider the Help of a Friend

It’s often easier to lose weight and get in shape when you have a friend alongside you. There are a number of reasons for  this. The first is that it’s more interesting. Rather than going for a walk by yourself, you can walk with a friend and socialize while you exercise. Another benefit is that your friend can help you stick  to your plan. For example, if you’re going out to eat with a friend who is also taking part in a weight loss program, you can choose a healthier restaurant to eat at. Small things like this can help keep you motivated.

Working out with a personal trainer is another way to stay motivated. Whether you choose to work out with a personal trainer or a friend, you’ll find that having someone by your side to keep you going can be an incredibly important part of weight loss programs.
