The Best Exercises To Do When You’re Busy
Life is busy. However, it’s important to still find time to exercise. Here are a few things you can try to keep yourself healthy and active even when you’re short on time.
Walk While Working
Sitting at your desk for long hours can be detrimental to your health. Whenever possible, get up and walk around. You can even do this while you’re working. If you’re on a phone call or composing an email on your phone, walk around while doing it. Even a few minutes of walking, several times a day, can be beneficial.
Get Off a Stop Earlier
If you take public transit to work, get off the bus or subway one stop earlier and walk to your destination. It will take you a few minutes longer, but even a small walk can help you burn off some extra calories, get your heart rate up, and help you feel energized and refreshed.
Wake up Earlier
Mornings can be hectic, but waking up a bit earlier (before the rest of the household) can give you some “me time” to exercise and get ready for the day. You can go for a quick run, do a brief workout in your living room, or just give yourself some extra time so you can walk to work.
Stretch at your Desk
If you spend a lot of time sitting at a desk during your work day, it’s a good idea to do some stretches throughout the day. Roll your shoulders or neck, stretch from side-to-side, and stretch out your back. These stretches don’t take more than a few minutes, but they can leave you feeling more relaxed and refreshed.
Exercise at Home
You don’t need to go to the gym to do a workout. There are a lot of exercise you can do in the comfort of your own home, including push-ups, tricep dips, squats, crunches, and more.
In fact, you can even do some exercises while you’re watching TV. This allows you to “multitask” and get some exercise in during commercial breaks or while you’re waiting for the next episode to start. Come up with a plan for what you hope to accomplish during the episode, and then make it happen. It’s better than just sitting on the couch!
