Strength Training Tips For Everyone

Strength Training Tips For Everyone

strength-training-tips

Strength training is an important part of any fitness program. It doesn’t have to be intimidating or scary and it’s not just for “jocks” who want to bulk up. Strength training is beneficial for everyone. Here are a few strength training tips that make it easier, more convenient and even – yes – more fun!

No matter your age, size or fitness goals, you can benefit from strength training. These strength training tips will help give you the confidence and technique you need to get the most out of strength training.

Start Small & Work Your Way Up

Start with smaller weights and then move up as you get stronger. How do you know what size weights to use?  Start with a small weight and try to do 10 repetitions of the exercise you’re planning to do. If it’s too easy, move up. If it’s much too difficult, move down.

It’s also important to move up to heavier weights as you strengthen your muscles. Once you’re comfortably completing a high number of reps at a certain weight, it’s time to move up.

But You Don’t Need Weights

Keep in mind that you don’t need to lift weights (or even visit a gym) in order to build strength. There are a lot of strength training exercises that you can do with just your body weight, such as push-ups, squats and pull-ups. You can even do these at home!

Listen to Your Body

Your muscles should feel sore during your strength training routine, but if you feel unusual pain or sharp, very painful pain, you should stop.

Change it Up

Doing the same strength training routine every time is boring, both for you and your muscles. By changing up your exercises from time-to-time, you’ll keep yourself interested and give your muscles some variety as well.

Get Some Rest

It’s important to take breaks from strength training in order to let your muscles heal. Let specific muscle groups rest for a day or two after working them.

Don’t Give Up!

Strength training can be difficult and it’s often tempting to quit, especially if you’re not seeing results right away. However, if you stick with it and keep going, you’ll find that it will definitely pay off. By following the strength training tips listed here, you’ll be off to a good start!
