How to Exercise When You Don’t Feel Like Exercising

How to Exercise When You Don’t Feel Like Exercising

When You Don't Feel Like Working Out

No matter how much you love working out or what sort of shape you are in, there will always be days when you just won’t feel like exercising. Sometimes it’s because you’re tired, sometimes it’s because you don’t feel well, and sometimes you just don’t have the time. And then there are days when the couch just seems too inviting.

Whatever the reason, here are a few things that you can do to get yourself motivated when you don’t feel like exercising.

Change Things Up

Sometimes, you don’t feel like working out because you’re bored of your current workout. If this is the case, switch things up and try something new. Instead of running on the treadmill, run outside in the park. Or do something else that you don’t usually do. Go for a swim instead of lifting weights. You might not be working the same muscles, but you’re still exercising and the variety will keep you motivated.

In some cases, even changing up the music you listen to when you exercise can help. Switching to a different playlist can give you new motivation to keep going.

Do a Small Workout

You don’t need to do the same lengthy workout every day. Sometimes even a 10-minute workout can be beneficial and it can give you the opportunity to recharge. If you’re feeling tired or down, a shorter workout can give you a little boost without tiring you out more.

Plus, telling yourself that you’re just going to do a quick workout can “trick” you into getting off the couch and getting active. Sometimes, this is all the motivation you need to get up and get going. You might find that, once you get started, you won’t want to stop.

Call a Friend

Working out by yourself can sometimes be a chore. If you’re feeling bored, call up a friend and exercise together. It’s a lot more fun when you’re with someone, plus they can motivate you to keep going. This is one of the reasons why working out with a personal trainer is so popular. Having someone with you to cheer you on and provide encouragement can go a long way.

Even going for a walk with a friend can be helpful and a good alternative when you don’t feel like doing a full workout.
