Scaling results without the scale
How do you know you are on your way to achieving your fitness goals? Did you take pictures of yourself buy cheap to see if you are getting more toned? Did your personal trainer run you through a battery of tests to see if you are getting stronger? Or dare I say … did you use a scale to weigh yourself?
Now if you noticed any hesitation in writing the scale comment, you were correct. To me, the word “scale” just has one more letter than a 4-letter word! I can’t tell you how many times I have heard people concerned they haven’t lost any weight or maybe have even gained a little! DON’T LET THAT DETOUR YOU!
FACT #1: Muscle weighs more than fat
FACT #2: Muscle burns calories
When you first start working out or try something new in your fitness program your body and muscles will be in shock because they haven’t tried this before, or for a very long time. Don’t be scared – it’s normal to gain some muscle mass before you start burning away those calories. So before you stand on the scale next time, think about this: How do your jeans fit? Do they seam a little less snug or can you get a few fingers in the waist line? Has your energy level increased? Did you go down a notch on the belt? Have you gotten any comments lately?
There are no two body’s on the planet that are the same, so don’t try and compare yourself when there is nothing to compare!
