Now that summer is finally here, it’s time to start making plans for how you’re going to spend the season. During the summer, you might have time off work, you might be able to get away for a while, or you might just want to enjoy the longer days and warmer weather.

No matter what you’re doing, everyone wants to have a happy & healthy summer. Here are some ways to do just that!

Exercise Outside – But Choose the Right Time

The summer is a great time to exercise outside. It’s great to get out, get some fresh air, and enjoy the sunshine and warm weather. However, if you’re going to exercise outside, try to do it in the morning or evening. The afternoon is usually the hottest time of the day, so it could be in your best interest to avoid strenuous physical activity at this time if you can avoid it.

Protect Yourself from the Sun

Choose lightweight clothing that is lighter in colour. This will help you stay cool in the summer heat. It’s often a good idea to wear a hat and sunglasses as well.

Be sure to wear sunscreen with broad-spectrum coverage and to reapply it often. This will help you have a healthy & happy summer.

Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated is important all year round, but especially when you’re out in the summer heat. When you’re exercising in the heat, you’ll likely need to consume more water than usual to keep from getting dehydrated.

Eat In Season

Eating fresh and delicious food is one the best parts of the season! To have a healthy & happy summer, eat in-season produce, such as fresh fruits and vegetables. In-season foods from your local area are usually less expensive and fresher than those that need to be trucked in from somewhere else – and they’re filled with vitamins and nutrients too!

Try Something New

The summer is a time full of long days, happy times, and enjoying yourself. In that same spirit, why not take this opportunity to try something new? Take up a new sport, play a new game, or head out on a hike or bike ride along a new trail! Take full advantage of everything summer has to offer!
