The idea that being healthy is expensive is a big deterrent for a lot of people and a major reason why many people feel like they can’t lI’ve a healthier lifestyle.

Here are some tips for living a healthy lifestyle without breaking the bank.

Prep Your Meals

Shop for healthier foods in bulk and prepare several meals in advance. Eat one for dinner today (and leftovers for lunch tomorrow) and then keep the rest in your fridge or freezer for when you’re looking for a quick meal. Eating this way allows you to take advantage of sales and seasonal prices. Plus, you’ll actually save money because you’ll avoid fast food and restaurants, which is a good idea for your health as well.

Change Your Habits

In addition to cutting down on restaurants and preparing healthy meals at home, you can improve your health without increasing costs by changing your habits.

Bring your lunch with you to work instead of eating out. Walk or bike to the store instead of driving. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Drink water instead of sugary sodas. None of these things cost any additional money and, in most cases, they’ll actually save you money. Plus, they’re good for your health.

You might need to do a bit more planning, but it will may off in greater overall health and in your wallet.

Work Out At Home

You don’t need to sign up for an expensive gym membership or fancy equipment to get in shape. You can exercise at home with some basic equipment like free weights. Even an in-home personal trainer isn’t a huge expense. Working with a personal trainer in your own home means you’ll receive a customized training program as well as tips and motivation from a professional.

During the warmer months, you can even exercise outdoors. Go for a bike ride, a jog, or a hike. These activities aren’t expensive and they’re great for your health.
