Five More Spring Health Tips
Simple Yet Effective Spring Health Tips
Spring is the time when many people emerge from a long, cold winter and start being active and healthy again. While health is certainly important all year, it’s natural to sometimes want to huddle up indoors with comfort food when it’s dark and cold.
But now that the brighter, longer, sunnier days have arrived, here are some spring health tips to get you back into the swing of things.
Eat In-Season Fruits & Vegetables
The spring is the perfect time to add more fresh fruit and vegetables to your plate. Depending on where you live, you might be able to find a variety of fresh produce at this time of year.
Try to make sure at least half of your plate is fruits and vegetables whenever you can. This is an excellent way to ensure you get enough of them in your diet.
Get Outside
After a long, cold winter, this is a great time to get outside and enjoy nature. Whatever you’d like to do, the spring is the perfect opportunity. It’s usually not too hot and not too cold, so you can do almost anything!
Dress in layers so you can always add or remove items as needed and make sure to bring some water with you. Staying hydrated is very important.
Correct your Sleep Schedule
Sometimes, the dark and cold winter can negatively affect your sleep schedule. For some people, this means sleeping more. For others, it can mean sleeping less and spending more time looking at screens (which can also negatively affect your sleep).
Now that it’s spring, it can be easier to correct your sleep schedule. Try to get outside while the sun is still out and that can help your body regulate itself.
Enjoy the Sun Safely
Now that it’s warmer and sunnier, it’s a good idea to spend time outside. The sun helps your body produce vitamin D, which is great for bone health and other functions.
However, you should still make sure that you’re safe in the sun. Wear sunglasses, protective clothing when necessary, and put on water-resistant, broad-spectrum sunscreen. Remember, the sun can damage your skin even if it isn’t a hot summer day.
Be Social in Active Ways
The warmer weather also give you more opportunities to socialize outdoors. Instead of meeting for coffee or drinks, why not go for a walk in the park or a scene bike ride with friends instead?
