Tips for Having a Healthy Halloween
How to Have a Healthy Halloween
Halloween is almost here! For many people, that means treats, treats, and more treats! While it’s certainly a fun time of year, it’s also a time where it can be pretty difficult to focus on your health. Here are some tips for having a healthy Halloween.
Be Active
One of the best parts of Halloween is that it’s easy to get up and get active during this time of year. In many areas, the heat of the summer is gone but the chilly winter has not yet arrived. This makes it perfect for outdoor activities.
Have a scavenger hunt outdoors, or go apple picking or head to a pumpkin patch. These are all fun activities that will help you celebrate a healthy Halloween and truly get into the spirit of the day.
Eat Full Meals
If you’re going to a Halloween party or you know you’re about to end up in a situation where you’ll be surrounded by treats, you might be tempted to skip a meal to “make room” for the treats. However, this often backfires. If you’re hungry and there are treats nearby, it’s likely that you’ll end up eating more of them than you usually would.
This is why it’s a good idea to have a healthy meal before you head to any event where you may be tempted by treats.
Have Non-Edible Treats
Halloween treats don’t have to just be candy and chocolate. You can have a healthy Halloween by giving out seasonal erasers, pencils, small toys, stickers, and many other fun items.
Wash Your Hands
Not only is washing your hands regularly a good idea at all times, but it’s especially important in the age of COVID-19. Before you and your children have any treats, be sure to wash your hands with soap. This can help prevent a number of illnesses, including the common cold.
Have your Favourites
You don’t need to deprive yourself of all treats this Halloween. Pick a few of your favourites, enjoy them, and put the rest away. This will let you have a taste of the holiday without feeling the need to eat every single treat you see.
