Ten Straightforward Tips for a Healthy Lifestyle
Ten Healthy Lifestyle Tips
Having a healthy lifestyle doesn’t have to be difficult. It also doesn’t mean you need to drastically change everything you do. There are a lot of seemingly small things that you can do to improve your health. Here are ten that you can start with today!
Eat Less Salt & Sugar
A lot of us eat much more sugar and salt in our daily lives than we need. Read nutrition labels and try to stay away from added salt and sugar when you can. You’ll probably be surprised at how much sugar and salt some products have.
Use Active Transportation
When you can, choose active transportation methods like walking or biking. This can help you get more physical activity in your day-to-day life.
Drink More Water
Most people don’t drink enough water. Staying hydrated has many benefits, however. Therefore, it’s a good idea to keep a glass of water on your desk when you’re working or to carry a bottle with you when you’re outside. This will encourage you to drink more water.
Make Exercise Fun
You don’t need to stick with exercises you don’t enjoy. Doing something you like, such as playing a sport or going on a hike with a friend, will motivate you keep going and exercise more regularly.
Eat More Fruits & Vegetables
You may not need to drastically change your diet to live a healthy lifestyle. One thing you can do is to eat more fruits and vegetables at every meal. For most people, it’s recommended to make half your plate fruits or vegetables at each meal.
Get Enough Quality Sleep
Most adults need at least seven hours of quality sleep each night. If you’re not getting this much, try to adjust your routine so you can sleep more.
Make Your Own Meals
Many meals from restaurants and fast food places are loaded with salt, sugar, and calories. If you make your own lunches at home and bring them with you, and cook your own dinners as well, you’ll likely eat healthier. You’ll probably save money too!
Get Outside
Being outside has many benefits. In general, fresh air and sunshine are good for your health. Plus, getting outside – even for just a few minutes – can improve your mood.
Wear Sunscreen
When you do go outside, wear a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and make sure it offers broad-spectrum (UVA and UVB) protection.
Make Healthy Snacks Convenient
Often, when we’re looking for a snack, we’ll choose the most convenient option. This frequently turns out to be something that isn’t very healthy. To solve this problem, portion out healthy snacks and place them where you’re likely to find them first.
