Five Things You Can Do Every Day to Improve Your Health

Daily Habits to Improve your Health

When the phrase “improve your health” is said, a lot of people think about overhauling their lives and changing everything. And sometimes that’s necessary. However, there are also some smaller things you can do every day to improve your health. Here are five to keep in mind.

Sleep Well

Most people don’t get enough sleep. Typically, most adults need between 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night, but this isn’t the reality for many. Try to keep a consistent bedtime very night (even on weekends) and avoid screens or anything stimulating in the 30 minutes before you go to sleep. Try to keep your room as dark as you can as well, as this can help improve your sleep.

Pay Attention to your Posture

The way you walk, stand, and sit can greatly affect your overall health and comfort. When seated, choose a chair that provides proper support and try to keep both feet flat on the floor. Position your monitor or whatever you’re looking at at eye level, so you don’t need to strain your neck.

Take Walks

Of course, physical activity is important to overall health. While you should certainly be exercising regularly, another thing you can do to improve your health is to take walks, even smaller ones.

Drink More Water

Staying hydrated is so important at all times of the year. Put a big glass of water on your desk when you’re working and carry a water bottle with you when you’re out and about. This will encourage you to drink more water.

Spend Some Time Outdoors

Life is busy, so for some of us, the only time we spend outdoors most days is the brief walk to and from our car. However, spending time outdoors can help you boost your physical and mental health. Even spending 10-15 minutes walking around your neighbourhood can give you a boost! Why not make your next meeting or social catch-up a walk instead?
